Ronald L. Ensz, ARA

Mr. Ensz holds a Broker Associate real estate license in several states and is also a State Certified General Appraiser. Ensz is an owner of Dakota Appraisals, LLC that provides professional consulting and appraisal services on appraisal problems and projects. Additionally, Ensz has placed his real estate licenses with the brokerage firm Clark & Associates Land Brokers, LLC and is active in listing and selling recreational, rural residential, farm and ranch real estate. Ensz has been licensed in real estate sales since March 2002 and has been a licensed real estate appraiser since October 2002.


Prior to becoming active in the appraisal and real estate business, Ensz committed over 20 years of service to the Farm Credit System. Ensz was employed as a Loan Officer in Minnesota and Colorado from 1980 to 1985. From 1985 to 1990, Ensz was involved in the “adverse” aspects of lending and gained valuable legal knowledge in the servicing of large non-performing loans. Ensz was a management leader from 1990 to 2002 managing branch offices in Belle Fourche, SD and Rapid City, SD before making a career change into the real estate sales and appraisal profession.


Ensz grew up on a diversified family farm in southeast South Dakota near the rural town of Marion. He attended South Dakota State University and graduated in December 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in General Agriculture.


Ensz provides a full range of real estate appraisal, brokerage, and consulting services. Mr. Ensz is experienced in performing appraisals involving farm and ranch real estate, transitional and recreational properties. Mr. Ensz has completed “before” and “after” appraisals for determining the non-cash donation for conservation easements. Ensz has testified in Circuit and Federal Courts.


Ensz received his Accredited Rural Appraiser designation from the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) in October 2008. Ensz was the President of the South Dakota Chapter of the ASFMRA in years 2013 and 2014.

Donald D. Zacher, State Certified General Appraiser

Mr. Zacher has been a South Dakota State Licensed Appraiser since May of 2017. Zacher is an owner of Dakota Appraisals, LLC and provides professional consulting and appraisal services in South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana. 

Prior to becoming active in the appraisal business, Zacher was a licensed real estate abstractor who owned and operated several title insurance offices for almost 20 years.  Zacher owned and operated title insurance offices in Lawrence County, Butte County, Harding County and Yankton County in South Dakota from 2000 to 2016. Zacher managed 25 to 30 employees on a day-to-day basis and worked with several realtors, lenders, attorneys, AMCs and private individuals daily.

Zacher grew up in Sturgis, South Dakota and graduated high school in 1992. Zacher then attended the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology from 1992 to 1997. Zacher entered the title insurance business in 1998. After selling the title insurance business in 2015, Zacher finished his degree at Black Hills State University and graduated with a Bachelor of General Studies in December of 2016.
